Washington State’s manufacturing sector is finding a wealth of skill and talent in the highly-trained military men and women who have been serving in our region. With the high demand for skilled aerospace and manufacturing workers companies are eager to hire these former soldiers who already have mechanical, technical and problem-solving skills. Often, the difficulty for a job-seeking veteran is to see how their military experience can translate into a job outside the military.
Organizations like The Center for Advanced Manufacturing Puget Sound (CAMPS) have identified specific skill sets that are transferable to civilian jobs and they help match veterans with high-paying manufacturing, aerospace and maritime jobs in our region. It’s a win-win for the regional employers and the veterans, as well as having long-term benefits to the communities in which they live and work.
